  11.   This README file provides information on the following topics:

  27.    DOS Mouse Driver, Release 6.12
  28.    ------------------------------
  29.    Mouse support for standard VESA super VGA mode has been added for
  30.    this release.  The modes supported are modes 100(hex) through
  31.    10C(hex), and mode 6A(hex).

  33.    The appropriate files will be automatically installed if the mouse
  34.    installation program detects a VESA BIOS extension, release 1.00
  35.    or higher, or a VGA adapter.
  36.  
  37.    Starting from the 6.12 release, the DOS driver is made up of the
  38.    three following files:
  39.  
  40.    1) MOUSE.COM           : mouse driver
  41.    2) LMOUSE.INI          : mouse driver configuration file
  42.    3) LVESA.OVL           : video module for the DOS driver
  43.  
  44.    These files must be in the same directory.  However, the
  45.    configuration file and the video module are not required -- if any
  46.    one (or both) is missing, MOUSE.COM will still load, but super VGA
  47.    video modes will not be available.  As for MOUSE.SYS, VESA super VGA
  48.    modes are not supported at this time, and LMOUSE.INI and LVESA.OVL
  49.    are not required.

  51.    The configuration file is automatically created by the installation
  52.    program for your specific hardware configuration.  We recommend that
  53.    you do NOT modify it. In case you change your video adapter, we
  54.    suggest that you reinstall the mouse software to update the
  55.    configuration file.

  57.    How To Upgrade Your Mouse DOS Files
  58.    -----------------------------------
  59.    If you are upgrading from a previous version of Mouse software, we
  60.    recommend that you install your Mouse Software in the same directory
  61.    as your previous version.
  62.    The INSTALL program replaces the old software in the MOUSE directory
  63.    with the new versions.

  65.    How To Install Your Mouse For The GEM Environment
  66.    -------------------------------------------------
  67.    When installing GEM, select the option for Logitech Mouse or
  68.    choose the selection for "MOUSE.COM".
  69.  
  70.    How To Install Your Mouse For AutoCAD 10 And Above
  71.    --------------------------------------------------
  72.    When installing AutoCAD, choose the Microsoft serial or Bus mouse
  73.    selection.  This selection will use the mouse driver in memory.

  75.    How To Install Your Mouse For DOS 4.0 Shell Program
  76.    ---------------------------------------------------
  77.    IBM DOS 4.0x installation places a new AUTOEXEC.BAT file in the
  78.    root directory and a DOSSHELL.BAT file in the DOS files directory.
  79.    In order to use your mouse with the mouse driver in memory, you
  80.    must modify both the AUTOEXEC.BAT and DOSSHELL.BAT files.

  82.    1) With a text editor, open the DOSSHELL.BAT file and find this
  83.       statement:
  84.  
  85.         "@SHELLC /MOS:[driver].MOS/TRAN/COLOR/ etc...."
  86.         (where [driver] can be PCIBMDRV, PCMSDRV, or PCMSPDRV)
  87.  
  88.    2) Delete "/MOS:[driver].MOS" from the "@SHELLC" statement.  Leave
  89.    the rest of the statement.  The modified statement should now
  90.    look like this:

  92.         "@SHELLC /TRAN/COLOR/ etc...."
  93.  
  94.    3) Modify your AUTOEXEC.BAT file:
  95.       Include the C:\MOUSE sub-directory in the PATH statement. Load
  96.       MOUSE before you execute DOSSHELL.
  97.  
  98.    This lets you use your Mouse both inside and outside the Shell for
  99.    DOS 4.0x.
  100.  
  101.    How To Install Your Mouse For DOS 5.0 Shell Program.
  102.    ----------------------------------------------------
  103.    The DOS mouse driver should be launched prior to the DOS 5.0 DOS
  104.    Shell and not launched within a DOS box.  Also Windows 3.x should
  105.    not be launched from a DOS 5.0 DOS Shell DOS box.  This may result
  106.    in loss of mouse functionality under Windows 3.x.

  108.    Loading High Command.
  109.    ---------------------
  110.    In case you have problems trying to load high the mouse driver, you
  111.    can load the driver without the overlay with the following command:
  112.  
  113.    For DOS 5.x:      LOADHIGH MOUSE NOVCI
  114.  
  115.    How To Install Your Windows 3.x Drivers.
  116.    ----------------------------------------
  117.    Windows 3.x should be on your system prior to the DOS installation.
  118.    Take note of the drive and path name of Windows (e.g. C:\WINDOWS.)
  119.    This will be used during the DOS Mouse Software installation.
  120.    Windows drivers will be loaded during the DOS Mouse Software
  121.    Installation.
  122.    To install these drivers, choose the entry "Install Mouse Driver
  123.    for Windows 3.x" in the Main Menu and follow the on-screen instructions.
